THE BODY OF a man was retrieved by gardaí from the Grand Canal this morning.

Gardaí are investigating after a the body of a man in his 50s was taken out of the canal.

The body was taken out of the canal at Suir Road in Kilmainham – close to the Luas stop.

It is unclear at this point what the cause of death or how the body came to be in the canal.

The news comes after the dismembered corpse of a man was found in the Grand Canal in Co Kildare over the weekend.
